As the National Resistance Movement (NRM) prepares to launch its 2026 election manifesto, the party’s Director of Information and Publicity, Emmanuel Dombo, has emphasized that the document represents a promise of truth and action — not deception or political rhetoric.
Speaking ahead of the official launch, Dombo described the manifesto as the foundation of NRM’s offer to Ugandans and a contract of accountability between the party and the population.
“The manifesto is the basis of our agreement with the people. It’s not just promises — it’s a roadmap of what we’re going to do, rooted in the truth and experience,” Dombo said.
He stated that during the campaign period, the NRM will take time to explain the manifesto to the public, ensuring that voters understand its contents and the party’s commitment to fulfilling their aspirations once elected.
“We have done this before. We understand what the people want. And each time, we improve — because our mission is not just to win elections, but to deliver transformation. After executing this manifesto, both the people and the country will be in a far better place,” Dombo added.
In a pointed remark aimed at opposition actors, Dombo accused rival political parties of peddling lies and misleading the public, but noted that Ugandans are increasingly able to differentiate between truth and political deception.
“NRM has been tested, tried, and trusted. Which other party has been given such responsibility and delivered consistently? The population has seen through the lies, and they now trust us,” he said.
Dombo affirmed that the NRM would not be drawn into smear politics, but would instead counter misinformation by engaging the public through media, direct dialogue, and civic education.
“The lies being spread will be debunked — not with insults, but with facts, with clarity, and with truth. Our record is our strongest message,” he said.
The manifesto launch will precede a rigorous campaign by President Museveni as he seeks to retain power for another five years.
